The Cairo Subway, Lines 1 and 2, is the largest station at the start of our journey. It is a fast electric railway network for transporting people serving the governorates of Greater Cairo (Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia). Three surface and tunnel lines are currently operating in this network, and the rest of the third and fourth lines are being completed. The construction of the metro lines was funded by the Egyptian government in cooperation with some French and Japanese agencies. The metro is considered the most important means of public transportation for individuals in Greater Cairo.
